On December 27, 2025, at Leaf Village & Farm, the event “Connecting Youth and Business Leaders: Co-Creating a Roadmap for a Plastic-Waste-Free Da Nang” was officially held, attracting more than 150 participants.

The event brought together representatives from local authorities, the Center for Education and Development (CED), VCCI Central–Central Highlands Branch, experts, businesses in the tourism and service sectors, as well as university students interested in sustainable development and the circular economy.

Practical activities toward concrete action

Within the framework of the program, a series of hands-on activities and in-depth exchanges were conducted, enabling participants to approach the issue of plastic waste in a practical and tangible way:

  • Waste audit and identification of “plastic hotspots” in areas such as restaurants, swimming pools, and bungalows, helping identify common plastic products and assess their environmental impacts.

  • The Solutions Hub, providing a platform for businesses and experts to exchange insights on circular economy models, waste audits, and feasible plastic reduction solutions in daily operations.

  • The Commitment Wall, where individuals and businesses documented their specific action roadmaps on a shared poster, demonstrating long-term commitment and collective responsibility.

Students: from learners to solution co-creators

At the event, students participated not only as learners but also as active solution co-creators. They proactively identified and classified common plastic items and proposed practical alternatives such as bamboo and paper straws, handmade fabric bags, glass bottles, and natural materials including bamboo, rattan, areca sheath, and banana leaves.

These proposals were positively received and actively discussed by participating businesses, opening up potential avenues for collaboration among educational institutions, enterprises, and development organizations.

From commitment to real-world implementation

Nine businesses have officially implemented waste audit and circular economy models, with Leaf Village & Farm recognized as a leading example, inspiring students and the local community alike.

With the core message “Waste is not the end, but the beginning of a new life cycle,” the program aims to foster a mindset shift from “disposal” to “regeneration and circularity,” particularly in the approach to plastic waste management, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly Da Nang.
